Written Schemes of Examination (WSE)

Many companies in the UK are unaware that under current HSE law they must not operate or use a compressed air system which does not have a Written Scheme of Examination (WSE) under the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 (PSSR) . These schemes are normally drawn up by a competent person/body and should cover all of the system including solid pipework and components downstream of the compressor.

Many companies that have WSE’s from Insurance companies may well be not covered as those schemes generally only cover the pressure vessels insured and not the whole system.
